This weekend I was attending Furcamp 2, which is a small meeting of furries (mainly) from the Franconian and Hessian regions near Coburg organized by eosfoxx and manares.
We set up a couple of tents on a small campground in Autenhausen - which even has a pool, a couple of fireplaces and showers. The other group on the ground, a bird breeding club, was very friendly and exactly as loud as we, so no problems there either.
I arrived on Friday evening, after the rain. The others had ordered pizza just before I arrived, so I called the pizza service and ordered an additional one. The Italian lady on the phone had a slight problem to grasp what I want (she understood the words just fine...), but in the end I got my pizza. While waiting for the food I set up my tent -- luckily, I still remembered how it works, it has been a couple of years since the last time I had been camping. The rest of the evening we sat around the camp fire and were chatting.
The weather on Saturday was okay most of the time (just a few drops of rain now and then), lots of sitting around the fire, chatting, BBQ in the evening. I love these smaller meetings as only there I get the opportunity to actually talk to the people I'd otherwise only see briefly on Eurofurence with no chance for conversation. Another advantage of the smaller gatherings is that they also have different mix of people with different dynamics working in the group.
Today (Sunday) was extremely wet again. It was raining cats and dogs (pun intended) until 1:00 PM and got only slightly better afterwards. I just threw my stuff into the car, didn't bother to pack the tent properly, waved goodbye to everyone and drove home. Arrived at 3:00 PM at home, unloaded the car, threw the smoke-reeking trousers and jacket into the washing machine and took a long shower. The two-hour nap afterwards didn't really help the tiredness, neither did a good cup of tea, thus I guess I'll get to bed early today...
Anyway, it was a very nice meeting with some very dear friends (nope, no deer friends this time... *ka-ching*) and a very entertaining weekend. Many thanks to EOSFoxx and MadCat for organizing the event! I had a great time!
