So I'm sitting here in a hotel room in SLC, right across the street the Salt Lake Palace (the convention center) after having managed to sneak out of the Analyst's Night at Novell Brainshare... I spent the whole day having lab duty at a demo point already and was very grateful that two co-workers with more experience in talking to a non-technical audience took over for tonight.
We arrived here on Friday at half past ten, after flights from Nuremberg to Frankfurt, then to San Fran (why don't I get an affordable flight to SF if I need one?!) and finally to Salt Lake City. On Saturday I took my DSLR and made some photos of Temple Square and its surroundings and witnessed an anti-war protest march. Between 150 to 200 protesters, I'd say. I have to say I'm impressed, I would not have expected this in this very conservative area.
Sunday was time for setting up the demo points in the so-called Lab, which went more smoothly then expected. At night, the kick-off party (dubbed "BrainWash") took place, with lots of excellent food, beer (brewed from rye, I guess), wine (quite a nice Californian Merlot in the collection) and live music by Michael and Amy - Dueling Pianos (who were very entertaining, alas one of the pianos was slightly out of tune.)
I'll continue lab duty for the rest of the week and will spend a couple of days in Provo afterwards. I'm hoping for good weather on the weekend, it was raining and snowing from Saturday afternoon until just a couple of hours ago...
