My parents are here for the weekend, and after we went to the zoo of Nürnberg yesterday, we drove to Hohenstein-Ernstthal, the place where my great-grandfather was born. Admittedly, the town is better known for being the birth place of someone a bit more famous: German writer Karl May. Hohenstein is a nicely restored little town with some old buildings. It definately deserves a lot more recognition by tourists.
Afterward, we drove to Rabenstein near Chemnitz. The old railway viaduct (nowadays a hiking trail) is quite spectacular, the castle ruin is located in a scenic surrounding and the cafe "Marketender" with their staff clothed in mediaeval costumes surprisingly atmospheric. We didn't make it to the Felsendome, though.
Enough opportunities to play with my new toy:
Isn't it cute?
First impression: whoa, I have to learn a lot about filming. But the results of my first steps aren't quite as bad as I feared. I likely have found a new hobby.
