Shopping day! We found the plaza Furvan was looking for, went to Sears to buy Levis and did our groceries in San Jose after checking in to the Double Tree hotel. We also went to Fry's. Luckily, at least this store is still the same.
And a word to Hilton Group executives: I perfectly understand that in these times of vastly reduced business travel the hospitality business encounters unprecedented challenges. However, I'm afraid reducing the amenities included with Executive Rooms to the point that there is absolutely no advantage in booking it over regular rooms (quite the opposite, in fact) will not save you any money, because it annoys your guests to the point they likely won't choose your hotels anymore. Having said this, the staff of the DoubleTree San Jose is as helpful, dedicated and friendly as ever.
Half a day and nothing to do? Why not go shopping? So we grabbed Mystifur and drove to Milpitas. Unfortunately (at least for me,) the Western Warehouse is gone, and I just got some few items from Walmart. The Great Mall hasn't changed much, but at least I was able to purchase a greatly reduced micro-fleece jacket.
The convention started quite good, with a ridiculously long queue at registration. Lots of fursuits already, and I already met mostly of the people I wanted to say hello to. Everyone is busy, but the atmosphere is relaxed.
