Mr. Wash

After spending almost EUR 1000 on car repairs due to a broken ignition, a replaced timing belt (normal maintenance) and the bi-yearly mandatory technical inspection ("TÜV") I thought "what the heck" and tried the new Mr. Wash subsidiary here in Nuremberg. In total, I spent 16 Euro. Six of these were for the car wash, which is really excellent and worth the price. The other ten for passenger compartment cleaning. I'm only half-way satisfied. While they did a really good job by cleaning the windows, the dashboard and the other plain surfaces (which takes half of the total time, half of the work and half of the technical resources), the vacuum cleaning was not very thorough. Admittedly, I had (and unfortunately still have) a some fuzz from various Folkmanis puppets and fursuits spread over the seats which takes some time to get brushed and vacuumed off -- guess why I thought "I rather pay someone for cleaning that up". However, I don't see a difference at all. Not to mention that they forgot to clean one of the rubber mats, put the others back into the car soaking wet and forgot a pen on the passenger seat... Conclusion: I'll stay with the car wash and won't take a second look at their other cleaning services. (YMMV, though)

Roadtrip 2006 - The Final Week

I have to apologize for the long delay, but I was quite busy the previous days and still have to catch up on a lot of things... But without further ado, here's the rest of my report, behind the cut:

And here we go...

Behind the cut: the second week of this year's holiday, and the first week of the roadtrip through the West. I didn't dare to write anything while being on the trip itself as even though we occasionally had WLAN connectivity, it was quite unstable.

California, here I am!

Behind the cut there's a round-up of the first week of my vacation...

New Year's Resolutions...

So the development department got back from Christmas vacation this week...

Late new year update

So, what had happened the last two weeks?

Dear authors of travel booking systems...

...will you please implement proper queueing and retransmission mechanisms that do not claim that a mail is undeliverable on a Transient Negative Completion (RFC 2821, section 4.2.1), as this response does not mean that the mail has been
rejected, but only that it cannot be delivered at this time. It is used by the Greylisting service of my mail server and significantly keeps down the amount of spam coming from spam bot networks.

Last week...

...was sort of busy.
