your navigation systems are built on Linux. TomTom Home 2.x reportedly is built on xul-runner (also free software.) Yet, the only way to get the new maps from your web shop is by downloading them with TomTom Home 2.x, which itself is non-free and only available for Windows. Not for Mac OS, let alone Linux. You don't even let me download the software from your website with Firefox running on Linux.
I intentionally bought a Linux based PNA to avoid vendor lock-in. Now I can't update the maps because the only way to do it is to buy and install a Microsoft "operating" system. Thank you very much.

Garmin units have a windows updater too, although you can put the SDcard into the computer and update it MUCH faster that way. I don't know if the TomTom can do that.
Can TomTom let you send the unit to their service center for updates?
