After living in this flat for more than five years I finally managed to renovate the bathroom. Sounds easy? Well, I removed the wallpaper from the bath tub area, removed the mould (yeah, great idea to just stick some wallpaper over it, dear Ms. Previous Tenant), planed the walls, applied some primer and painted it with latex paint. I kept the wallpaper on the ceiling and the other walls and just painted it over. Unfortunately, the paint needs quite some time to dry, so I had to endure three days without a shower. Cleaning the room and moving the power outlet from behind the door (who's bright idea was that, anyway?) to somwhere next to the basin took another complete day. And now I have a neat and tidy bathroom.
After spending almost EUR 1000 on car repairs due to a broken ignition, a replaced timing belt (normal maintenance) and the bi-yearly mandatory technical inspection ("TÜV") I thought "what the heck" and tried the new Mr. Wash subsidiary here in Nuremberg. In total, I spent 16 Euro. Six of these were for the car wash, which is really excellent and worth the price. The other ten for passenger compartment cleaning. I'm only half-way satisfied. While they did a really good job by cleaning the windows, the dashboard and the other plain surfaces (which takes half of the total time, half of the work and half of the technical resources), the vacuum cleaning was not very thorough. Admittedly, I had (and unfortunately still have) a some fuzz from various Folkmanis puppets and fursuits spread over the seats which takes some time to get brushed and vacuumed off -- guess why I thought "I rather pay someone for cleaning that up". However, I don't see a difference at all. Not to mention that they forgot to clean one of the rubber mats, put the others back into the car soaking wet and forgot a pen on the passenger seat... Conclusion: I'll stay with the car wash and won't take a second look at their other cleaning services. (YMMV, though)
So the development department got back from Christmas vacation this week...
German for cynics, lesson 0815:
Auto, das: fängt mit "Au!" an, hört mit "Oh!" auf und dazwischen steht ein "t" wie "teuer".
Guess I have to be a bit more careful about what I write here... Now that this journal is linked from planet n. But you know what? I won't change a thing just because of that.
So, what happend last week? Well...
I annoyed a telemarketer so much that she terminated the conversation.
