Herbstcon was a blast! After arriving in a rather pissed-off mood (my navigation system losing orientation in Aschaffenburg was one of the more entertaining experiences) I got into party spirit quite quickly. This furmeet sure has the right amount and mix of people. Not only that, the food was excellent, thanks to kralle_lion, nachtfuchs, Jaryic, tanidareal, AmurUssuri and the rest of the breakfast crew -- and Vicious Vampire. Somehow my trousers didn't fit anymore on Sunday...
Last week, I had doco and imperial_wolf staying at my apartment for two nights. They were travelling Germany by train for a week and visited the Railway Museum Nuremberg.
but the title "best concert of the year" now belongs to Heather Alexander. Wow, that woman rocks the castle! Literally.
The location: a campground in Autenhausen near Coburg. My rig: a tent, a crate of beer, a crate of lemonade, a crate of water, sunscreen, "Off! Deep Woods" repellent (the stuff actually works in Germany, at least it keeps off horseflies.) The guests: about 30 furries from all over Germany. The hosts: eosfoxx and madCat. The mood: perfect. The pool: excellent. The landlord: Siggi. The weather: too hot, one thunderstorm. The sunburn: itching. The BBQ: great. The pizza service: poor. The weekend: perfect.
I spent the last couple of days at Mephit Mini Con at the Freusburg near Siegen. We've been there before with Eurofurence a couple of years ago and the castle is still as good as I remembered it. For MMC, it was a huge leap in quality. Tasty food, competent and friendly youth hostel staff, neat rooms and excellent technical infrastructure. What a difference to the previous location at the Loreley!
After calling in jet-lagged ;-) for Friday I slept until 3 pm, packed my stuff, researched the route and drove to Herbstcon Spring Edition (subtitle: "A joke becoming real") at a boy scout club house near Fulda. With 15 attendees it was a refreshingly small and cosy furmeet with lots of excellent food -- thank you, Fairlight and lynard_ for cooking! And of course many thanks to somewolf and kovu for organizing this very relaxing weekend. If possible, I'll be back next year!
