F8K TV was a blast! I'd really like to write something about it; for example that it was the party of the year, or that it was done in an amazingly professional way, or about all the technical stuff, or the wonder ful impromptu pawpet performances (thanks fairlight_, lynard_, aragontigerseye and the band -- I knew you could do it, and I was right!), nachtfuchs and Jaryic being so wonderful hosts, cheetah_spotty as a director and producer, Eisfuchs and akeela as presenters, rollenspiele and sandwiches, Jumpy ordering pizza for the whole gang, decorating a christmas tree, 100m CAT3 cable, cocktails, balloons, how to overrun a DSL concentrator, the band, breakfast at Kralle's place, defective VCRs, bigbluefox's on air design, some strange American caller "Fluffyfox" who tried to order pizza (whoever that was *g*), ...
Last week was rather eventful, for my standards. We had our first furry regular's table at the O'Sheas on Tuesday night (with six participants if I remember correctly), had a drink with colleagues on Wednesday -- actually, it was far more than just one drink -- and drove to Herbstcon, a small furmeet in Darmstadt, on Thursday afternoon. I originally planned to start at 3 PM. But not only because of the amount of beer I had consumed at the night before, also because I'm fighting a cold, I barely managed to collect my stuff and get into the car at 7 PM.
This weekend I was attending Furcamp 2, which is a small meeting of furries (mainly) from the Franconian and Hessian regions near Coburg organized by eosfoxx and manares.
Okay, I'll finally give it a try.
Eurofurence is getting closer and I still have plenty of things to do... Yesterday I bought, um, some stuff for the pawpet show. And, completely unrelated, I found a pair of new shoes, bicycle trousers and a new small pillow for journeys. The old pillow started to smell, so I tried to wash it. It smelled even worse afterwards. So I washed it again. Afterwards, it leaked some strange brown liquid and stank as if it had been placed in a romm filled with cigarette smoke for twenty years. Given the age of the pillow, it actually might have been. So I cut it open, and apart of lots of half-rotten chicken (!) feathers it had about 20% hay in it... No wonder it started to disintegrate. I therefor trashed it and bought a new one.
Well, this weekend we had the final pawpet show rehearsal before Eurofurence. We were quite busy, unfortunately some props and puppets are still missing (but they will be ready for Eurofurence!), and it was countless hours of hard work. On Saturday, we played the three acts in reverse order as some scenes in act three and two are quite tricky to play and we wanted to play them while concentration was still available. It was, um, a bit tenacious and the timing was off quite a number of times. No reason to be bothered, though, as this is usually the turning point at which we start to get a real feeling for the timing. And indeed, the rehearsal on Sunday was much better, almost perfect. Much better concentration, more self-confidence, and nearly perfect timing. I'm now completely confident that it will be a great show this year again. For those attending Eurofurence: don't miss it! No, really. Do not miss it under any circumstances. It will be incredibly funny, tragic, moving, nonsensical and supercalifragilisticexpialidotious! Get addicted!
Well, not many news, but nevertheless news...
In case someone reads this who's not familiar with the European furry fandom: one of the highlights of each year's Eurofurence convention is a so-called pawpet show, a puppet show for (almost) grown-ups. I'm honoured to be allowed to contribute to that show as a stagehand and occasionally supporting puppeteer for the fourth year now.
