There is no such thing as a free lunch

Starting this week, our daily newspaper comes with a TV guide supplement. It is "free for our valued readers." And the very same day they increase the price of the rag by 10 ct.

Les mondes hors-pistes, the broadcast

Wow, that was great coverage! I expected a couple of snippets about us, but it felt like they filled half of the show with us. A recording is available from arte +7 for a week (unfortunately, only viewable on nights after 11 pm due to some few NSFW scenes.)

Roadtrip 2008, Day 18 and 19

On the final day on the road we went to a mall North of Sacramento and finally found some jeans in the right sizes at Sears. However, we weren't able to get out of the parking space with the RV and had to wait two hours for the owner of the car in the spot left from us.

Roadtrip 2008, Day 17

Sacramento, a city (actually, two cities) along the Sacramento and American river, is the capital of the state of California.

Roadtrip 2008, Day 16

Yosemite Nat'l Park. What a sight!

Roadtrip 2008, Day 15

We went a bit shopping in Vegas again and took off to Death Valley. It was quite windy on the way to the valley. As I feared strong cross winds on the pass, we didn't take the West exit of the park but drove to Beatty instead and took the loop around the park to get to Mojave. My mother was quite PO that it took so long and that we were driving in the dark again, and that my father was driving too long without a break, but one reason we avoided the pass was her fright of narrow mountain streets... We arrived at half past ten, which wasn't that late after all.

Roadtrip 2008, Day 14

Sigh.

Roadtrip 2008, Day 13

Valley of Fire State Park has become almost intolerably popular. It is hard to get a parking spot at the trail heads, especially with an RV. People bring their children, which is perfectly fine, but they don't keep them under control. While some rocks are fine for climbing, not all of them are. Not that the adults are more reasonable, though.
