Califorina 2009: Yosemite Nat'l Park

We got up almost early, had breakfast and drove to Yosemite National Park. The weather was great again, far less snow and ice on the roads to the park than last year, and only some sorry rests of snow in the park itself. First stop was the Yosemite Valley Panorama Point. Perhaps a bit early, as the Bridal Veil Fall was in the shadow.

California 2009: Knights Ferry Bridge

We checked out late in the morning and headed for Yosemite. Since driving from San Jose to Yosemite Nat'l Park takes too long to actually do something reasonable in the park, we took some time to visit the Knights Ferry Bridge. It is one of the few remaining covered wooden bridges in the US and really worth the stop.

California 2009: Aviation and Dead Dogs

We went to the Hiller Aviation Museum in Santa Clara today. A hangar full of planes from the beginning of aviation in California to todays planes. Apparently, the San Francisco Bay already was the center of technological inoviation in the US from the end of the 19th century. Where else would you find a wooden plane (that actually flew) constructed by two 15 year old brothers in 1906? I haven't sorted the pictures yet, but the view from the obeservation platform at the municipal airport was also quite interesting.

Further Confusion, day 2 - 4

This FC was the most laid-back, relaxing one since years. I only attended one panel, instead I chatted with a lot of people I haven't met for months. Not many purchases by me in the dealers room (just one calendar and one of Tani's mood badge collections), none in the arts how. The amount of fursuits in the parade was amazing: 530 costumes according to Frysco. This year, they didn't fit under the roof anymore.

Instructions

I see a point in reminding employers of a restaurant to wash their hands, even though it should be self-evident. However, finding instructions on how to wash hands makes you think about the state of humanity...

California 2009: Shopping spree, again

2009-01-21: Shopping

California 2009: San Francisco Shopping Spree

In the morning, F_u_r_v_a_n tried to find a certain Toys'R'Us, but we only found a different one. He still got the Nerf gun he was looking for, though.

California 2009: Roadtrip

Another bright sunny day, T-shirt weather again, but more windy than the day before. It was Martin Luther King Day, so we decided to avoid the crowded city and drove along the CA-1 to Point Reyes. But before that, just after breakfast, we took a small walk to the beach. Surf was up, no doubt, and lots of surfers taking the opportunity. The same applied to a flock of sanderlings.
